Nokia C5 FCC gives green light for the European 3G

FCC has blessed the newly announced Nokia C5 with the seal of approval. Do not get too excited, though, it is the European version of the device, offering 3G and 900 sing along 2100MHz 3G bands.

You know the math right – AT & T (NYSE: T) in 1900 and works on T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) 1700 MHz, so this move by Nokia (NYSE: NOK) – insisting on the non-for USA-the-device through FCC – is outdated, to say the least.
Remember that the C5 is a low-cost smartphone with specs that include HSPA connectivity, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera and Symbian-S60. Its MSRP is only $ 185, so we expect to see the Finnish company to move tons of these in due course.
And if you’re wondering, we have no idea if the U.S. version of the device will be released, if at all. When I joined AT & T or T-Mobile, I love the idea of offering a cheap smartphone, so in the end, we have one of these two go for the C5 in an attempt to increase ARPUs.

Finally, we do not know when the Nokia C6, which also was approved recently by the Commission, will be officially announced. That model looks even more interesting, not least thanks to the WiFi connectivity .
