Nokia will focus more on smartPhones
Nokia wants its plant in Salo, Finland, the focus will lay on the smartphone market in Europe. The Finnish phone manufacturer chooses to include these changes because of the differing requirements of customers.
These changes will likely lose 285 workers their jobs. Currently there are about 2,200 people working in the factory in Salo. “The plant in Salo is a key part of Nokia’s global production network. Plans which involved redundancies, are always painful, these plans are put into motion only after thorough consultation. The purpose of these plans is the future competitiveness of the plant on the market and the role of mobile devices to improve quality, “said Juha Putkiranta, Senior Vice President Nokia. Nokia wants the new plans more responsive to the demands of its customers and consumers.
